"Karl" for Net-a-Porter
Karl Lagerfeld just launched a new line simply called "Karl" (need it be any more??) on the online fashion boutique Net-a-Porter - "a collection of covetable downtown classics"
To celebrate this launch 5 pop-up stores called Window Shops (note, just windows, no actual store to walk into...) were unveiled in Paris, New York, London, Berlin and Sydney. Naturally we attended the Place Saint-Germain des Pres in Paris, where a window cube was officially opened by Karl Lagerfeld 4:30 p.m. this last Wednesday, January 25.
Below is a demonstration of how one can enter the Window Shop to shop for Karl...(by using the app NET-A-PORTER KARL) or by clicking here http://www.net-a-porter.com/karl
Naturally there were lots and lots of fans....and models boasting the Karl collection...
Potential shoppers received their very own Karl-a-Porter canvas bags and 'Karl addict' T-shirts...
That of course included us too...

Natalie Massenet, executive chairmain of Net-a-Porter was there too...
This is the first of its kind where a designer creates a collection exclusively for an on-line boutique (Net-a-Porter is the exclusive world wide distributor for 4 weeks)
More than 70 pieces of this urban chic collection is available online, including draped dresses in jersey, trousers, sweaters, skirts, dresses, shirts, shoes and bags... All mostly in that iconic black-and-white-Karl-sophisticated-rock look...Love it!
You MUST check out the video below of Karl interviewing himself (yes himself)...we love him even more now!!

Elie Saab's chrysalides and blossoms
It was one of those cold, drizzly and muddy days in Paris - perfect to slip on a pair of very high heels and head off to the Grand Palais to view Elie Saab's Haute Couture 2012 defilé - for a splash of warmth and feast of color to the wintery city.....
Dressed in black and shocking red, Vanina and I made our way through the usual hustle and bustle, snobbery and air-kisses that take place outside an A-list defilé, we pushed our way through the paparazzi and made our entrance of the palace doors....
The room was over-flowing with people that the only way to reach our seats, which happened to be right behind Vogue's international editor at large Hamish Bowels, was to literally climb over the fashion icon - yes it was a very graceful experience....
Proof is in the pudding....Hamish is in front of us wearing the glasses....
And to our right in a purple dress was Oscar hopeful French actress Berenice Bejo - I bet she was pondering what to wear to the Oscars?
After former Bond girl Olga Kurylenko was done posing for the cameras, the show finally started....(by the way, that is Ines de la Fressange dressed as a "photographer" taking Olga's photo...)
And out blossomed Spring in the most Saablime gowns in shades of fresh rose, angevin blue, creamy yellow, silvery white and nasturtium... A real treat to take in as Elie Saab presented a collection dripping with silk tulle, crystallized tulle flowers, lace petals, beading and embroidery....
Needless to say, the bridal gown was just magnificent - without lace or transparancy just "the bride herself enveloped in a bouquet sprinkled with dew"....
Saab's inspiration for this collection? Fairytales! ....dreamy yet dazzling ones though!

Alexis Mabille's Color Therapy
Alexis Mabille ain't shy about color and showed it off in all its glory at his Haute Couture 2012 defile. His inspiration? Alexis turned to Proust's quote: "It's only women who do not know how to dress that are afraid of colors. A dress may be brilliant without vulgarity and quiet without being dull" - so the runway at Hotel Shangri-la turned into a session of major color therapy...Alexis took these words and interpreted them with a bouquet of femmes-fleurs - mastering the science of color to express her vitality! Models wore over-sized floral hats, with matching painted faces. Agapanthus, daffodils, bougainvilleas, orchids, hibiscus and even capuchins strutted down the runway....
I then stepped backstage....
and snapped a pic of Alexis Mabille and photographer and artistic director of the Crazy Horse cabaret Ali Mahdavi
and then Alexis and I were snapped....what was I thinking wearing sunglasses on my head??? I should have accessorized with an over sized poppy! :)

Nissim Ben Aderet - onelineonebreath
Nissim Ben Aderet - known as the black and white sketch artist, one line, one breath, gave Paris its first taste of his fabulous creations at a vernissage hosted in a magnificent penthouse apartment in the 7th district boasting a top to bottom view of the Eiffel tower in all its linear glory....how appropriate!
The Tel Aviv-based artist is where his linear intertwined world comes to life - his work is a process of understanding lines, rationality and emotion.....yet his creations are free from the constraints of logic...Black on white, loud on soft, complex on simple - and we loved it all! Hosted by David Wizman, owner of Wild Gallery, it was a soiree for Parisian art lovers to sip on champagne and get entangled in NbA's work....
Who are all these faces in his work? And what are they saying? To where are they all heading ? "In one line, Nissim draws an entire world of human images that move through imagined spaces and that create the infinite motion of relationships and hierarchies amongst themselves" - visit his website. (we zoomed in on some of his work...)

Is his work a reflection of society in all their social glory?
We then had the "hutzpa" to ask Nissim to write "Paris Popcorn" in his style...which he kindly obliged....
see the video....

and the result....

Allan and Suzi - home of retro fashion
It's impossible to visit New York and not write endless tales of my fashion encounters - especially if I just happen to stumble upon them. Such happened when I was walking along Centre Street and "Allan & Suzi" literally bumped into me - the home of retro-fashion
Seeing the store window from afar I just knew I would love this place! Stepping into this gem was like stepping into the cavern of Alibaba - new and vintage designer clothing and jewelry for both women and men grace every corner of this treasure trove....
I met Allan who showed me around and showed me some of the fabulous stuff they possess such as the dress that Goldie Hawn wore for the cover of Vanity Fair in March 1992 as well as a dress worn by SJP in Sex and the City.....
There is just so many fabulous fashion finds to find that it's hard to decide where to start looking first - but voila some of my favorites....needless to say for my next party in New York city I know where to go fashion hunting!
Located at 237 Centre Street (between Grand St & Broome Street) New York

Exclusively Kevork Kiledjian
As you know, Paris Popcorn loves to bring you exclusive scoop about some of our favorite soon-to-be-on-everyone's-wish-list designers, like NY based Kevork Kiledjian. He welcomed us into his studio in Crosby Street which lies in the neighborhood of Nolita. Model Gaelle H Pietri joined me as we were allowed to 'play dress up' as Kevork very kindly let us try on some of his rock-beautiful creations...We did't try pieces from a particular collection, we just chose pieces that caught our eye (tough choice as we wanted to try them all!)
We had the pleasure of getting a sneak peak of his next collection including his choice of models, materials and colors - I'm afraid I'm gonna have to stop here as it's top secret but let me tell you that it promises to be spectacular!! This creator with great sensitivity clearly loves women and loves to enhance the female form.
In short, I'd say that his creations is the mixing of passion and mystery - just like its creator! And what probably draws me to this designer is the feel of depth, sincerity and love that he pours into his work....
Below is a sneak peak of the Kevork Kiledjian atelier...
