A Dreamy Escape to Cape Town

Cape Town is a city that captivates the senses and soothes the soul (and where I spent 20 years of my life growing up)— my recent visit was nothing short of extraordinary. This trip was a perfect mix of adventure and relaxation, from breathtaking vistas to indulgent moments. The best time to visit Cape Town is from October to February when summer is gloriously showing off.

We kicked things off with sundowners at a stunning poolside home on Clifton Beach, where I reunited with one of my besties and the renowned confectionary chef Karen Schneid from “Ooh Lala Confectionary”. Sipping cocktails as the waves whispered in the background felt quite natural.

Table Mountain was, of course, a highlight. The cable car ride up offered jaw-dropping views, but the real treat was spotting dassies—adorable, furry creatures basking in the sun (did you know they are cousins of the elephant?).

But in my opinion, for the best panoramic view of Table Mountain, Milnerton Beach is unbeatable—soft sands, ocean breeze, and the mountain towering in all its glory.

We then did the iconic drive to Cape Point. We parked the car and walked almost to the very tip of Africa! The two oceans meet here: the Atlantic and the Indian oceans.

Shopping enthusiasts take note! The Green Market Square is a treasure trove of handcrafted gems, and the V&A Waterfront seamlessly blends local flair with luxury finds. If you want a Cape Town-inspired ring - like the life-size one pictured above, head to Shimanskys at the Waterfront.

Our stay at The Cellars-Hohenort Hotel in the southern suburbs felt like a step into a fairy tale. This hidden gem is surrounded by lush gardens and unexpected wildlife, from majestic tortoises to flocks of Egyptian geese.

As for wine tasting - this time, we didn't do our usual wine route of Stellenbosch vineyards (Spier is a must!) - instead, we opted for a more local and relaxed wine-tasting experience in the beautifully lush green suburb of Constantia at the Silvermist Organic Wine Estate which was then followed by an incredible live African show Drumtruck - a group of incredibly talented local musicians - I can't recommend this enough!

Other absolute musts are:

  • If you are a fan of giraffes as much as I am, I recommend visiting the Giraffe House too.

  • Boulders Beach to hang out with the African Jack penguins - such a treat!

  • Groot Constantia - South Africa's oldest-producing wine farm (we enjoyed a delicious lunch and live music at Simon's restaurant)

  • Horse riding in Hout Bay at the Riding Centre

Now - here's a little gem you won't know about unless you ask the locals - but Cape Point Vineyards in Noordhook hosts a farmers market every Thursday from around 4 pm onwards - if you want to taste magic - this is the place. Forget the delicious food and local beer you can down. The view is out of this world, picture-perfect Africa!

Cape Town is a city of contrasts, where nature, culture, and indulgence come together. It should be if it’s not on your bucket list yet!
