Have you ever wondered what goes on inside the mind of Fashion icons? Well, I have, so I decided to contact someone intriguing, widely respected, tres-cool and, of course, a lover of Paris – please welcome Diane Pernet!
Diane Pernet is a renowned fashion journalist and critic who travels the globe to meet with celebrated and aspiring designers, fashion houses, fashion shows and fashion models. Her opinion is influential, and what Diane says is ‘hot’ – ‘is hot!’ And what is not, well,l forget it, her camera won’t be caught flashing it.

Originally from New York, she made Paris her home 18 years ago and is the author of a beloved site devoted to fashion and its culture called A Shaded View on Fashion. Diane’s passion and eye go beyond “la mode”; she seeks to comment on photography, art and film. The latter plays a significant part in her life. As she says, “I like to feed people. My site is like my personal diary, I write about things the way I see them and those that capture my interest” Last September, Diane launched a film festival called A Shaded View on Fashion Film at the Jeude Paume dedicated to films that celebrate fashion, its creators and the hype that comes with it all – which since has travelled to other countries. This was in fact the first time I ever saw Diane. Standing at the center talking to the crowd that just attended her screening with her striking signature black veiled hair, bright red lipstick and trademark shades – and that’s when I thought ‘I have to interview her, I would love to know how she thinks!’.

We decided to hold the interview at one of Diane’s favorite tea salons “Le Deux Abeille” in the 7th district of Paris and was also pleasantly surprised when her friend, London-based designer Mei Hui Liu owner of the ever-so-hip fashion label Victim Fashion St joined us on our tea! So ladies and gents, lovers of fashion and pop-culture worshipers, I invite you to view our interview…
